[Introduction] [Manure compost] [Horn Manure Preparation or 500] [Horn Silica Preparation, or 501] The various experiments performed by Maria Thun on seedlings, fast-sprouting plants, lettuces, radishes, etc... developed her understanding of the cosmic forces that influence plant growth. These influences are exerted following a certain rhythm which is directly linked to the positions of the moon and the sun in relation to the constellations of the Zodiac. This means that, depending on what day it is, the plant encourages growth of its roots, leaves, flowers or fruit. Based on these observations, a "crop calendar" was drawn up to indicate these different periods for each year. All the work and treatments performed on the vines are ordered according to this calendar (i.e. dependent on the cosmic conditions). In effect, there must be symbiosis between the various organisms, the plant, the earth and the cosmos. |
Thus, for planting, we take the rooting and fruiting days into consideration. For grape quality, we cultivate and treat the vines on fruiting days.
The basic products used in Biodynamics are three "preparations". These are the foundation stones, the basic healing life forces, the fundamental medicines of Biodynamics.
These products are used only once they have been enlivened. Enlivening consists in placing the product in water and stirring first in one direction to create a vortex (a funnel in the centre of the water) and then in the opposite direction, for a certain amount of time. A transfer of energy from the substance to the water is thus established.
